3D Mammography — Detects 40% More Cancers Than 2D

Among the first hospitals in Andhra Pradesh to offer GE Senographe Pristina tomosynthesis. Breast cancer is curable when caught early — screening saves lives.

Precision Imaging for Every Clinical Need

All scans performed by trained radiographers, reviewed by a consultant radiologist, and reported within 24 hours.

🔬3D Technology

3D Digital Mammography

Tomosynthesis — the gold standard

Our GE Senographe Pristina 3D system takes multiple thin-slice images of the breast to create a detailed 3D picture. It detects up to 40% more cancers than conventional 2D mammography and reduces false positives — meaning fewer unnecessary biopsies. Among the first centres in AP to offer this technology.

Prep: Days 7–14 of cycle preferred · Avoid deodorant/talc · 20 minutes

When to get it: Annually from age 40 · From age 30 if family history · Any lump at any age

👶Foetal Medicine

Level-2 Obstetric Ultrasound

TIFFA Anomaly Scan

Our Level-2 ultrasound is a detailed foetal anatomy survey performed by a trained foetal medicine specialist. We assess all major foetal organs, growth biometry, amniotic fluid, placenta and cervical length. Colour Doppler studies of umbilical and uterine arteries are included when indicated.

Prep: Full bladder (4 glasses 1 hr before) · 45–60 minutes · Same-day report

When to get it: 18–22 weeks gestation · 28–32 weeks for growth · Any high-risk pregnancy

🦴Bone Health

DEXA Bone Density Scan

Osteoporosis diagnosis & monitoring

Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry is the gold standard for measuring bone mineral density. We report T-scores and Z-scores with detailed interpretation, FRAX fracture risk calculation, and a written summary you can share with your doctor. Minimal radiation — less than a day's background exposure.

Prep: No calcium supplements 24h before · Comfortable clothing, no metal · 10–15 minutes

When to get it: Women 50+ · Post-menopausal women · Men 70+ · Long-term steroids · Fragility fracture

📡Vascular

Colour Doppler Ultrasound

Blood flow assessment

Colour Doppler uses sound waves to visualise blood flow in arteries and veins. We perform foetal Doppler (umbilical, uterine, middle cerebral artery), carotid Doppler (stroke risk), peripheral vascular Doppler (DVT, PAD) and varicocele studies. Real-time imaging with instant reporting.

Prep: No special preparation for most studies · 20–30 minutes

When to get it: High-risk pregnancy · Leg swelling · Stroke risk assessment · Varicose veins

“Which scan do I need?” — 2-step guide

What is the primary reason for your scan?

Understanding Your Mammogram: BIRADS Scale

Every mammogram report uses the BIRADS system — here's what each category means

BIRADS (Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System) is the standardised system used worldwide to categorise mammogram findings. A number from 0–6 on your report tells your doctor exactly what action (if any) is needed. Most women will receive a BIRADS 1 or 2 — meaning everything looks normal.

0

Incomplete

Additional imaging needed before a final assessment can be made.

1

Negative

Nothing to comment on — continue routine annual screening.

2

Benign

Definitely benign finding. Continue routine screening.

3

Probably Benign

Short-interval follow-up (6 months) recommended. <2% chance of malignancy.

4

Suspicious

Tissue sampling (biopsy) should be considered. 2–95% chance of malignancy.

5

Highly Suggestive of Malignancy

Tissue sampling action taken. >95% chance of malignancy.

6

Known Malignancy

Biopsy-proven malignancy — awaiting definitive treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is 3D mammography different from a normal mammogram?
Standard 2D mammography takes two images of the breast. 3D mammography (tomosynthesis) takes 15–25 thin-slice images and reconstructs them into a 3D picture. This allows the radiologist to look through the layers of breast tissue, detecting cancers hidden by overlapping tissue. Studies show 3D mammography detects 40% more cancers and has significantly fewer false positives, meaning fewer unnecessary biopsies.
I received a BIRADS 3 result — what does this mean?
BIRADS 3 means 'probably benign' — the finding has less than a 2% chance of being cancer. Your radiologist will recommend a 6-month follow-up ultrasound or mammogram to confirm it remains stable. This is not a cancer diagnosis, and in most cases the finding either stays stable or resolves completely.
What is a T-score on a DEXA scan?
The T-score compares your bone density to that of a healthy 30-year-old. A T-score of -1 or above is normal. Between -1 and -2.5 indicates osteopenia (low bone density). -2.5 or below indicates osteoporosis. We include a written explanation with every DEXA report and calculate your 10-year fracture risk using the FRAX tool.
How long does a mammogram take? Does it hurt?
The mammogram itself takes about 10–12 minutes. There is brief compression of the breast which is uncomfortable but not painful for most women. We use the GE Pristina system which has a patient-comfort design with gentle compression. Scheduling mid-cycle (days 7–14) reduces breast tenderness.
Can I get my scan images on CD or WhatsApp?
Yes — all scan images are stored on our PACS system and can be shared digitally via WhatsApp, email or CD on request. We also provide the DICOM files for any specialist or second-opinion review. Images are retained for 7 years as per medico-legal requirements.
Do I need a doctor's referral for a scan?
For most routine scans (ultrasound, mammogram, DEXA, X-ray) you can self-refer. For specialised studies or scans with clinical indications (e.g. foetal Doppler, CT-guided biopsy), a referral from a treating doctor is preferred to ensure the correct protocol is used.
